Is it just me

or has silly season hit us already? There seems to be an extraordinary amount of "stuff" going on at the moment and a rather ordinary time span in which to do said stuff :).

Yesterday we went and celebrated Kayli's first birthday and the little one's had a lot of fun tucking into the birthday cake and feeding each other. Abby decided that Tyla is underfed and proceeded to stuff her full of birthday cake.

Today Mathew and I did the unthinkable. We took ALL the children (and a friend) off to Clear Water Mall so that I could go and look for shoes. It turned out surprisingly well, and as a bonus I found shoes AND a photoshop book that I was yearning for. Came home and had a lie down , later on Mathew went to his dad, and I went and dropped Nathan off and to buy ingredients for Aarons cup cakes. I've decided to bake them for his school party - watch this space LOL!!!

So, looking forward to Aarons party on Sunday, I hope the weather holds (although I have been praying for rain) - and then the countdown begins for Tyla's first birthday.

Please, can winter come to an end

please please please!!! It's been a tough one for the Sevitz family, even though it hasn't been a spectacularly cold one. We've all been sick, me with my bladder woes, the kids with the general sniffles and now Mathew who is more sick than I have ever seen. His chest is giving him problems and it's just not the Matt that I know.

Today was a magnificent day, but wow, going from cold to 28 degrees in a week is a bit much don't you think? The kids all had on their summer clothes today and Daigan and his friend even wanted to swim, but no, I don't think so!!!

I did a bit of shopping for Tyla today and bought a few things to send to New Zealand. I miss Tanya and Belle a lot, and chosing the little clothes I got quite tearful wishing that my friend were back in SA.

Drips and then some more

Life in the Sevitz household has not been a bucket of fun these past few weeks, especially for poro Mathew and Stefina who have had to run around after children while I was in hospital once again with a kidney infection. However, there is good news - seems that the bug that has been living in my body has been identified and zapped unceremoniously with 3 antibiotics during my stay in hospital. To top that - Mathew and the kids have all come down with a flu virus - so as you can imagine, the Sevitz's are one mighty miserable clan lately.

I also started working full time again - well this is a temp assignment, but it's broken the ice and we're all still trying to get into routine. Poor Aaron now has to leave the house with Mathew and Daigan at 6.45am and I leave at 6.30am to miss the Rivonia traffic.

We took some time out and went for a stroll at the park this week-end past and Daigan and Aaron had loads of fun playing in the freshly falled leaves. Madam Tyla however was not impressed that we dare put her down onto grass and leaves, eeeuuuwww mommy!!

I lost my Mojo for a while

I kinda lost my blogging mojo for a while - you know how it goes. Stress has been high these past few weeks with me being retrenched, then re-employed , then re-retrenched a few times - but at least now that is over and I am due to start my temp job (full day) *vomit* on Monday.

I did a hospital stay as well (yeah yeah just for a change) and it took me a good couple of weeks to come right. Mathew and I went through to Harties for an overnight stay at a b&b there. It was Tash's 30th and we thought we'd kill two birds with one stone, but Mathew landed up taking me to hospital on Sunday pain with a pain in my head that was just way past a headache, I thought something was bursting. I was admitted with suspected meningitis - but after a night on an antibiotic drip I was feeling a lot better so the doc was doubtful and called of his lumbar punch hounds thank goodness.

We asked the doc to discharge me on Friday 30th June because of our IELTS tests that we had booked four months previously, so off I went to Braamfontein on Sat 30th with the drip still in my arm to write the english tests. We still don't have our results but we're hoping to get them tomorrow. I've had nightmares about these tests which actualy weren't that bad at all. The worst part for me was that we had to go back on the Monday following the exam and do a written exam in front of a invigilator - that was awful - but I think we did ok.

Anyway, to get back to my melodrama - I went back into hospital for a cystoscopy so that the wee doctor could see if I had anything wrong with my bladder, but he couldn't find much going on - so hopefully the last round of AB's has done the trick and I am drowning myself in water for fear of getting another infection.

So .......... I am off to work on Monday, wish me well - I am dreading it. I haven't worked full day in quite some time and even when I worked at PPS we would leave the office at 3.45 - giving us ample opportunity to miss all the traffic. Oh and did I mention that this assignment is in Rivonia. They're building the gautrain tunnel underneath the highway at Marlboro and the traffic is just horrendous. Anyway, a girl has got to do what a girl's got to do, and I hope that all goes well on Monday.

Daigan went to Cape Town for the July school holidays and had an absolute blast with Diane, Mark and the boys. I was incredibly nervous sending him away, but I knew that he was in the best hands, those boys have grown up together. We missed him a lot and I was very pleased to have him home and safe and sound in my sight once again :)

The kids are all well and I'll put updated pics of Tyla on her blog (check the links for her blog) - and as for Aaron, he says new words every day. It's unbelievable how his speech is coming along. He loves school and I am going to miss him dearly in the afternoons - we used to have our afternoon "lie down" and watch Barney for 15 minutes - now he is just going to think that his mother is out on the streets. Hopefully next year I can find a decent paying half day job - I am desperately going to miss this time with my kids in the afternoon.

Tanya's Birthday

We trekked out to Al Fresco's today for Tanya's birthday lunch. I thought it would be a nice day, not like her farewell, but it was not to be. It was cold and miserable. But, the food and the company were great. I'd love to go back when the weather is good, they have a lovely area for children to play.

Freedom Day

We were all up bright and early this morning. Last night we decided to have an early evening, the first one we've had in a long while. Tyla slept through from 7pm to 7am and I woke up with a pounding heart convinced that something was wrong. I sent Mathew to have a look but she was fine. Go figure that after that I couldn't get back to sleep :)

So we decided to go for a "Sunday" Drive and opted to head for "Bamboo's" in Centurion. It's a lovely children's venue and the kids all had fun while we relaxed.

Came home and baked choc chip muffins with Daigan. We really had a lovely week-end.

Chitago Spur Meet

A couple of us met at the Kempton Park Spur and it was honestly the nicest Spur I have ever been to. There were loads of child minders and the facilities are top notch. Was a lovely meet.

Sandra's funeral

15 of the mommys from BN attended little Sandra's funeral to offer our support to her parents and to say goodbye to a little angel that could have belonged to any one of us.

It was the worst thing I have ever had to do and to watch that little white box being carried into the church by her family members was incredibly heart breaking.

We cried as we joined her parents in saying goodbye to her and the look on Jessica's face as the hearse drove away will haunt me for the rest of my life.

Again, this has brought so many things into perspective for me. What is important in our lives? Do we really have to stress about the little things that our kids do, as long as they are with us.

Sandra , we will remember you for always - your little soul is at rest and you left your mark on our hearts forever.

Rest in Peace Sandra

Sandra (2), her mom Jessica and her dad Stephen were involved in a car accident last week in Alberton. Sandra was on life support until yesterday, when she passed away.

Sadly, it takes an event like this to realise the special gifts that we are given, and how fragile life is.

Fly on wings little one - you will always be remembered.

21 again

well not really. Can't believe I hit 39 this year. Gosh I am getting old :)

I had an incredible birthday made so by my incredible husband. Mathew bought me my much coveted camera as you all know, it arrived after a lot of drama about a week ago. On the morning of my birthday I was presented with the entire series box set of "Sex in the City" - THE greatest television series ever created, I LOVE it. The kids bought me a CD and my friend Tanya bought me a stunning charm bracelet with the intitials of Mathew and the kids on it - a beautiful thoughtful gift. As mentioned in my previous post Sue and Brian bought me the tripod, I am so going to try that out this week-end. Oh, and I got a lovely handbag from Ronnie and Des - I was so spoiled this year.

Anyway, back to my actualy birthday DAY - i got home from work to find both my kids looking like death. Aaron couldn't walk and Tyla had a fever and was covered in a rash. After much ranting and raving at the paed's receptionist, Simon told me to come and see him immediately. I got such a fright!! Aaron has a condition called "irritable hip" that some kids get with a fever and that was why he was battling to walk. Tyla has "Roseola" and looked an absolute fright!!! - He reckons it will be gone in approx 5 days.

So there you have it, we spent my birthday night nursing two sick kids and watching the latest pvr'd episode of Desperate Housewives. Was a lovely birthday though!!

March at an end already

What an incredibly busy week-end!! We went to http://www.fairlawns.co.za/ for dinner club / birthday celebration on Saturday night. An utterly charming venue with a lavish yet simple menu and absolutely opulant surroundings. As usual a very pleasant evening was had by all with Mathew and I trying out the chilli and prawn soup (can you say *drool*) and twice cooked ducked as main course. The waitron was not impressed at Mathew's request for a discount if it were only to be cooked once :). Sue and Brian bought me a much yearned for tripod for my new camera - I see a lot of fun coming on.

The kids and I went to little Michael's second birthday party yesterday, and today Daigan went with Zaida and Des to a family day at the Inanda country club. They wisely decided to leave Aaron with us - the nappies that we got from that child today required a hosepipe!!!

Here are pics take by Ronnie today, and just because I love him I am adding a splendid photograph that Mathew took in our garden this morning. *cough* who is supposed to be the photographer in this family - look how wonderful these pictures are!!!
